30th Annual Chili Cook-Off!

The 30th Annual United Way Chili Cook-Off will be held in the Central National Bank Event Center on Friday, October 27th , 11am -1pm, with a theme of a “Classic Chili Bash.”

The Chili Cook-Off Committee, chaired by Cindy Bailey, is accepting applications from individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations and the committee is excited to get started.

“The Event Center is an excellent location. It allows for ample parking, adequate space for all our vendors, and plenty of seating for our United Way friends,“ said Dan Schiedel, Executive Director of United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma. “As always, we will have live entertainment, a wide array of door prizes, an autographed OU football helmet raffle, and tasty chili from a variety of exceptional cooks,” added Schiedel.

Tickets to attend the event are $5, which includes a drink, chili, and dessert, and may be purchased in advance from the United Way office or at the door. The Chili Cook-Off committee anticipates at least forty chili entries to compete in four categories: Judge's Chili Choice, Best Booth, Top Dollar Chili and People's Chili Choice! Tasting begins at 11am.

Entry fee for the Cook-Off is $50. Business or individuals wanting to enter the Chili Cook-Off may do so by filling out our entry form and sending it Carolina Seymour at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The theme, “Classic Chili Bash” is a new creation by the committee, Schiedel said. The committee is expecting to see contestants decked out in 30’s classic attire or 1987 themed attire and booths decorated for whichever theme competitors choose. “Our vendors are extremely imaginative and I’m sure will amaze us with their creativity—which lends for a fun filled event,” Schiedel said. All funds raised benefit the fifteen partner agencies of United Way, along with discretionary giving designations.

Schiedel stated, “The United Way Board of Directors, along with the Campaign Team-- led by Mike and Sara Stuber—is also excited about the 2017-2018 campaign. The Chili Cook-Off is a major fundraiser for our agencies and the campaign. Last year’s event raised more than $20,000. We anticipate this year will be another great success.”
